Nettle Dieta

A Spring Threshold Practice

This 4-day online immersion is a gentle invitation to work with nettle as a plant ally.

Set within the seasonal shift after the spring equinox and first full moon — a time long associated with themes of rebirth and renewal, and later marked by Easter — this is a period when energy has already begun to rise, when something in the system is moving, awakening, coming back online.

Working with a plant ally invites a different kind of intelligence into the process.

Rather than taking something for a specific effect, we begin to enter into relationship — with the plant, with the body, and with the subtle shifts that happen when the two meet.

Nettle becomes more than something you consume. It becomes a presence within the system — a point of contact that can clear, strengthen, and bring awareness to what is ready to move.

Over the four days, you may begin to notice that the body responds, not just chemically, but energetically — as if something is being remembered, reorganised, or gently brought back into alignment.

I’ve been working with plant allies, and with nettle in particular, for some time now, and have been continually surprised by how each one shows up differently.

Not just in their physical effects, but in the way they meet the body — the quality they bring, the shifts they seem to invite, the subtle changes in awareness that unfold over time.

It’s this lived, direct experience that underpins this work.

What is a Dieta?

A dieta is a simple, intentional way of working with a plant over a period of time.

Rather than just consuming it, we begin to form a relationship — through repetition, attention, and a gentle reduction of external noise.

This is a soft, accessible version.

Over the four days, you’ll be invited to:

  • work with nettle daily (tea, tincture, or fresh if you choose*)

  • join a short morning practice

  • create a little more space in your system

Not as a rule — but as a way of allowing your body to become more receptive.

Why Nettle?

Nettle is one of the first plants to emerge in early spring.

It appears at a threshold point in the year — just after the turn, when the light has returned but the season has not yet fully opened. A time when life is beginning to push up through the soil. In this sense, nettle carries the archetypal energy of the Initiator — the force that begins, that breaks through, that brings movement where there has been stillness.

It is also linked to the Warrior of Spring — not in aggression, but in its clarity, boundaries, and quiet strength. Nettle does not hesitate. It emerges, it protects itself, and it holds its place. It is strengthening, clearing, and deeply supportive to the system. Traditionally used to nourish the blood and restore vitality after winter, it carries a quality of clarity, strength and quiet activation. Not soft, but steady. Not forcing, but awakening.

Working with nettle at this point in the cycle can feel like meeting that same movement within yourself — supporting the body as it begins to shift, re-energise, and come back into flow.

Working with nettle can gently support:

  • increased energy

  • clearer thinking

  • a sense of internal steadiness

How We’ll Work

We’ll meet each morning for one hour (8–9am), online.

Each session is simple and steady.

We’ll begin by arriving into the body — settling the breath and bringing awareness inward.

From there, we’ll work with:

  • Intention

  • meditation

  • breath

  • subtle body awareness

  • sound

  • journalling

You may be guided through small movements, stillness, or simple vocal toning.

There will also be space to rest, reflect, listen, and notice.

Each day carries a light thread:

  • Day 1 — Opening

  • Day 2 — Clearing

  • Day 3 — Strengthening

  • Day 4 — Integration

This isn’t rigid — just a gentle progression across the four days.

Alongside the sessions, you’ll work with nettle in your own time and notice what begins to shift.

A Gentle Reset

You’ll be invited (where possible) to reduce:

  • processed foods

  • refined sugar

  • white flour

  • caffeine

  • alcohol

  • social media and external noise

You'll also be encouraged to spend a little time each day out in nature — even briefly — allowing your system to orient to the wider environment and seasonal shift.

This isn’t about restriction or doing things perfectly.

It’s about creating enough clarity and space for your system to recalibrate — so you can feel more of what is happening in your body.

What to Expect

Each body responds differently, but you may notice:

  • increased clarity or energy

  • emotional movement

  • shifts in the body

Or you may simply experience a deeper sense of connection.

There is nothing to achieve here.

This is a space to listen, notice, and reconnect.

*Working with Nettle

You can work with nettle in a way that suits you:

  • Nettle tea (recommended) — 1–3 cups per day

  • Fresh nettle — young tops, steeped as tea (if you are confident foraging - great advice here)

  • Nettle tincture — a few drops in water, 1–3 times per day (I use UK Herbals

Nettle tea is widely available in supermarkets, health food shops, or online (Clipper and Holland & Barrett are good options).

If you’re unsure, keep it simple — tea works perfectly.

Contraindications

Nettle is generally safe for most people, but please take care (or avoid) if:

  • you are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • you are taking diuretics

  • you are on blood pressure medication

  • you are taking blood thinners

  • you have kidney conditions

If unsure, please check with a healthcare professional.

You are always encouraged to listen to your body and adjust as needed.

You are welcome to take part in the sessions even without using nettle.
