Art - about
Sara Brannan is a process-led artist and musician whose work explores the alchemy of creation through experimentation and chance. Engaging with a diverse range of media—from found images and film to cardboard, paint, and more—her practice is rooted in the joy of making and the unpredictability of materials.
Central to Sara's work is the transformative power of process. Whether working with tactile materials like clay or constructing ephemeral installations, she embraces serendipitous moments during creation, allowing the work to evolve organically. Themes of perception, transformation, and ritual often tie her multi-disciplinary explorations together.
In addition to her visual art practice, Sara integrates sound, healing, and ancestral connection into her creative work. Drawing from her experience as a yoga teacher, sound healer, and energy practitioner, she explores how resonance, repetition, and trance states inform artistic creation and facilitate shifts in consciousness. This fusion of art and healing creates immersive experiences that invite emotional and somatic engagement.
Influenced by her connection to land, community, and ancestral roots, Sara’s practice seeks to reawaken a sense of ritual and belonging. Recent works draw on her experiences with Cycladic and goddess figures, exploring themes of archetypal femininity and spirituality through sculpture and performance.
